Become a Student

Class Rules

To be a member of our classes, students must follow these rules: 

 

In-Person Classes

 

Registration

  • You must register before entering class.

  • Depending on health conditions or host requirements, you may be required to wear a facemask. 

  • Class size is limited. A coordinator must approve your entry to class. 

 

Participation

  • Arrive on time.

  • Stay in your assigned class during class time.

  • Do activities, homework, and projects.

  • Cooperate in assessments of your progress.

  • If LL staff determine that you are ready to move into another class, you must do so.

 

Attendance

  • Come to all classes unless you have a valid reason to be absent (such as illness).

  • Text, call, or email your coordinator every time you cannot come to class. If you cannot contact them, call Lincoln Literacy at 402-476-7323 or email info@lincolnliteracy.org.

 

Transportation (if you are riding our van)

  • Answer the phone when the van driver calls.

  • Be ready for the van.  

  • Buckle small children into car seats or booster seats.

  • Control children when riding in the van.

  • No eating or drinking in the van (except babies).

 

Childcare (if you are bringing children)

  • Bring only your own children to childcare.

  • Leave sick children at home.

  • Children must stay with the childcare providers.  Children may not be in adult class.

 

Respect for others

  • Respect tutors, staff, and other students.

  • Keep children safe and quiet while waiting for class or the van.

  • Do not keep the volunteer tutors after class except for urgent matters.

 

Online Classes:

 

Registration

  • You must register before entering class.

  • You may not invite others directly to the class. They must also register and be admitted by the coordinator.

  • Class size is limited. A coordinator must approve your entry into class. 

 

Participation

  • Log into the class on time.

  • You must turn on your camera. Our classes are communities of learning. 

  • If you are not speaking, turn off your mic.

  • Do activities, homework, and projects.

  • Cooperate in assessments of your progress.

  • If LL staff determine that you are ready to move into another class, you must do so.
